The National Building Code of Canada (NBC) is the model code and forms the basis of the regulation across Canada. Provinces such as Ontario, BC, and Alberta have their own building codes based on the NBC. Provinces such as Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick adopt the NBC.
How Often Are Building Codes Updated?
The building code is updated every 4 to 6 years. There are often interim amendments or updates to the building code.
