Canadian Fire Safety Association – Annual Education Forum 2018

Jack Keays presented at the Canadian Fire Safety Association  – Annual Education Forum. The presentation was on fire and egress modeling in support of performance based design and alternative solutions. The presentation discussed smoke control strategies and evacuation modelling (timed exit analysis) in similar buildings that are governed by the Ontario Building Code, Alberta Building Code, and UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice.

The presentation also included current research work by Samuel Bright Boadi of Vortex Fire into the modelling of assisted evacuation of occupants in care homes. The case study compared horizontal evacuation of occupants in a care home using Pathfinder and the parameters for calculating egress time in the Ontario Fire Marshal Guidelines.
