OUR IMPACT
Centennial College of Applied Arts and Technology, a renowned diploma- and degree-granting institution located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is undergoing a significant transformation. The project involves the redesign of Centennial's A-Block, which will serve as a distinctive gateway to the College's Progress Campus. The six-storey, mass timber addition will provide one hundred and fifty thousand gross square feet of space, including renovations to the existing A-Block building. The building will be constructed using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and glue-laminated beam and columns (glulam).
Vortex Fire Consulting served as the Building Code Consultant for this project. In this role, Vortex Fire Consulting developed a safe approach to the use of mass timber while ensuring compliance with the Ontario Building Code.
