OUR IMPACT
Riverbank Lofts is a four-storey, forty-two-unit boutique-style condominium situated along the banks of the Speed River in historic Hespeler Village. The heavy timber buildings in this project, dating back to 1845, serve as a prominent reminder of Cambridge's historical roots. Retaining the existing timber structure was crucial in transforming this century-old factory into a modern living space. Special care and attention were taken to preserve the historic stone walls, as well as the solid wood posts and beams that adorn the building.
Vortex Fire Consulting served as the Building Code Consultant for the project. In this role, Vortex Fire Consulting played a key part in developing and implementing a process that allowed for the retention of the existing heavy timber while upgrading the existing timber elements. The oversight of this project was accomplished while strictly adhering to the requirements of the Ontario Building Code.
