Riverbank Lofts

Riverbank Lofts is a four storey, forty-two-unit, boutique style condominium, which is situated along the banks of the Speed River in historic Hespeler Village,   The heavy timber buildings in this project date back to 1845, and serve as a prominent reminder of the historical roots of Cambridge. Retention of the existing timber structure was vital in the transformation of this century old factory into a modern living space. Special care and attention were taken to preserve the historic stone walls, as well as the solid wood posts and beams which adorn the building.

Vortex Fire Consulting was the Building Code Consultant for the project. As the Building Code Consultant, Vortex Fire Consulting was instrumental in the development and implementation of the process which allowed for both the retention of the existing heavy timber, as well as the upgrade of the existing timber elements. The oversight of this project was accomplished while maintaining strict adherence to the requirements of the Ontario Building Code.
